Kayd Somali Arts & Culture and Partners Proudly Presents
Somali Week Festival 2025
‘Resonate! Sounds of the Past, Voices of the Future.’
Thursday 16th October – Sunday 26th October
In October 2025, during the UK’s Black History Month, Kayd proudly presents the 17th Somali Week Festival titled “Resonate: bridging the past, forging the future”—an event dedicated to honouring the enduring influence of Somali arts, heritage, and storytelling. By curating an exciting lineup of established and emerging artists, this year’s festival seeks to capture the evolution of Somali culture within the UK and beyond. In doing so, artists, photographers, writers, and musicians will be called upon to showcase their creative visions and celebrate the rich music of Somali life. SWF 2025 will feature a brand-new Somali-British play and spotlight a fresh cohort of literary and musical talents, illustrating how the diaspora continues to flourish, innovate, and inspire. Throughout this carefully crafted programme, we will delve into how cultural leaders, activists, and performers harness their heritage to forge new paths, pay homage to ancestral legacies, and build stronger connections across communities. We will also acknowledge the broader impact of Somali voices on the UK’s cultural landscape, highlighting achievements, sparking collaborative dialogue, and encouraging all participants to look ahead with renewed purpose and creativity.
